Case: 1
Mrs. X
This is a typical post-operative case of ENDOMETRIAL
CARCINOMA with metastasis in skeletal bones and lymph
nodes. Patient was not responding to second cycle of
chemotherapy, it was stopped. When the patient was not
responding to the second cycle of chemotheraphy the
chemotherapthy treatment was stopped.
- Unbearable pain in right leg
- Impaired gait (unable to walk properly)
- Cannot put pressure on the right leg
- Cannot sleep on the bed
- Sleeps on sitting position
- Unable to sit on the floor
- Severe degree of anxiety and depression
- Poor overall quality of life
Patient started Nutrition & Yoga Therapy from 6th
of May 2005 at Sri Swami Ramananda Tirtha Memorial Committee
Centre. The patient also followed nutrition guidelines
supplied by AMCT.
After fifteen days of therapy the patient showed the
following improvements:
- Able to move leg better than earlier
- Marked reduction in anxiety and depression
- Improved Quality of life EORTIC Q marks improved from
6th May 2005 to 21st May2005.
- Able to sleep better in sitting position
- Reduced leg pain
After a month of practice the patient successfully
underwent third cycle of chemotherapy with less side
effects.
After six weeks of practice patient was able to sleep
flat on the bed with all the above improvements.
This shows that the Nutrition & Yoga Therapy could
be used for improving efficiency of conventional cancer
therapy.
Case: 2
Mr: ABC Age: 60 years
A known case of Non Hodkins Lymphoma underwent chemotherapy
in 2004 shown metastasis in brain with fungal infection
shown the following symptoms.
- Giddiness
- Lowered vision due to which it was difficult to recognise
people.
- Poor memory
- Altered sleep rhythm
With the practise of Yoga Nidra for 20 days along with
18-20 fractions of Radiotherapy he found the following
improvements and he was still continuing Yoga Nidra.
- Normal vision
- Reduced giddiness
- Improved memory<
- Normal sleep rhythm
- Improved Quality of life
The above case shows integrated approach of Yoga &
Conventional Therapy in cancer management improves the
efficacy of treatment.
