We are aggrieved to announce about the sad demise of Air Chief Marshall I H Latif, who was associated with A M Charitable Trust as a Trustee and Advisor.
Air Chief Marshal Idris Hasan Latif (9 June 1923 – 30 April 2018) was the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) of the Indian Air Force from 1978 to 1981, after having served the Indian Air Firce since his early youth. He fought in the World War – II and later on the Indo-Pak war. After retirement, he has also served as the Governor of Maharashtra (1982–85) and later as the Indian Ambassador to France (until 1988). He was the first and only Indian Muslim to become the head of the Indian Air Force.
In 1971, he was awarded the Param VishishtSeva Medal. In 1974, Latiff was promoted to the rank of Air Marshal and posted as air officer in charge, administration, at Air Headquarters. He led Air Force relief operations during the Patna floods in 1975. In 1977.
He was associated with AM Charitable Trust since its institution and guided its Management and staff in carrying our valuable service for cancer patients through Yoga therapy and other alternative/ complimentary therapies.
The Trust will miss his valuable presence and guidance.
