Hon. Governor of Tamil Nadu State, INDIA.

The Governor of Tamil Nadu Sri Rama Mohan Rao in his inaugural speech complemented the Trust in organising such an International Seminar on a vital disease like cancer, which demands the attention of the society for a thorough research to find out a better treatment for cure. Seminars such as this bring practitioners of different kinds of medicine therapies (modern as well as alternative) together to address the problem of cancer. With a real breakthrough in cancer treatment still eluding the medical fraternity, ancient and other non-conventional therapies like Yoga, Ayurveda and Homeopathy will be relevant in mitigating pain and prolong the life of patients.

The Governor enlightened that such seminars attended by both specialists from modern medicine as well as other types of therapies would bring to light the latest advancements innovations and trends in alternative therapies enabling the medical profession to combat cancer better .He pointed out that a cancer patient Anup Kumar in his book titled 'The joy of cancer' had revealed that while he had opted for Allopathic as the basic treatment, he complemented it by practicing Yoga, meditation and chanting of "Vedic Mantras" with great positive impact. The Governor further told that while choosing the line of treatment, a patient should gather the will and adopt complementary therapies to supplement modern treatment. He desired that doctors could assist patients by developing strategies that could incorporate such therapies along with other modes of treatment. Whatever the approach might be the suffering cancer patients and their kith and kin should get confidence that there are other treatments other than Allopathic for providing great relief in the pain caused by the disease. Trusts such as AMC Trust should focus on creating confidence and a positive mental attitude among patients. They should guide in the matter of diets and few habits of the patients that would have major positive impact on their quality of life
